The History of House of Prayer

October 1964 - 20 families meet in an office building for the first worship service of House of Prayer Lutheran Church, led by Rev. Robert Engstrom.

May 23, 1965 - Ground is broken for the first buildings, which are now our current Fellowship Hall and Sunday School wing. On this day the church is incorporated as a congregation of the LCA.

September 26, 1965 - The first buildings are dedicated by Synod President Rev. Philip Wahlberg; Pastor Engstrom is installed in the 97 member congregation.

1978 - A new sanctuary, classrooms, and offices are built and dedicated.

2003 - Church membership at 447

September 2003 - Purchase Abundant Life Methodist Church’s property

March 6, 2005 - Final worship service at 1515 Bay Area Blvd.

March 13, 2005 – Grand Opening worship service at the new facilities on 14045 Space Center Blvd.
