In April 2004 Pastor Youngdahl visited with Padre Horacio Castillo, President of Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG). Thus began a partnership between House of Prayer and ILAG. In October of that same year, a delegation of 5 people from HOP journeyed to Guatemala to visit with the people of Aurora Ocho de Octubre and to worship with the members of our sister congregation there, Virgen del Rosario Lutheran Church.
House of Prayer continues to support ILAG and Virgen del Rosario through financial contributions and prayer. Currently, one mission trip is planned per year to allow members of HOP to connect with these brothers and sisters in Christ and to strengthen the friendships and bonds that have already been created.
HOP’s second mission trip to Guatemala has been scheduled for October 27-November 6, 2005. We will join the people of Virgen del Rosario in celebrating their second anniversary as a Lutheran congregation. Hopefully we will also be able to participate with them in a couple of work projects, such as the building of additional latrines for the community. If you are interested in participating in this mission experience, please contact Pastor Youngdahl no later than August 1st.
