Service
The Service Committee at House of Prayer provides the congregation with opportunities to minister to our community. The following are our on-going activities:
Feeding the Homeless - Every second Sunday of the month, small groups within the congregation are invited to make 200 sack lunches and deliver them to the Life Center Homeless Shelter, where they will be distributed to the hungry of Houston.
Blood Drives held at House of Prayer are coordinated through the Gulf Coast Blood Center.
The Life Center is a homeless shelter located on the north side of Houston. Clothes and blankets are collected and donated to the Life Center throughout the year. House of Prayer also supports this organization financially and through volunteer work at the facility.
Regency Village Facility is frequently visited by members of House of Prayer. Magazines are collected for residents and Bingo games are organized five to six times a year with refreshments and prizes donated by the congregation.
Habitat for Humanity is a recipient of our budgeted local benevolence and members of our congregation volunteer their services building and repairing homes. Our plan is to help as a group either in the Houston or the Bay Area Habitat sites four times a year.
Other ongoing activities include: Support of Interfaith Caring Ministries, Meals on Wheels, Bay Area Turning Point, Heifer International Project, and Recycling Awareness.
